How it works:
Ivermectin works by paralyzing and killing parasites. It binds to specific channels (glutamate-gated chloride channels) in the parasite’s nerve and muscle cells, increasing chloride ion flow. This leads to loss of nerve signal control, paralysis, and eventual death of the worm, which is then expelled naturally from the horse’s body.
